If you are providing support for someone who has a disability or illness and who could not manage without your help then you are a carer.

Grosvenor Road Surgery offer a Carer Support Service.  This is your opportunity to let your GP know you are caring for someone and to consider what may be of help to you.

  • Carer advice and support from an independent organisation such as the Belfast Carers Centre
  • Asking your doctor for a health check for yourself
  • Referral to a social worker for a Carer's Assessment.  This will give you the opportunity to talk over your caring role and to find out what help is available from your local social services, such as the Carer Complementary Therapy Service or a Carer Grant.
  • Talking to your GP or District Nurse about relaxation techniques and how to manage stress.  Thinking about asking for support to assist you in caring or to have a break from your caring role.
